To apply for and use an electronic waybill for international express delivery, please refer to the following common methods.
Application Methods
Apply through the courier company’s official website: For example, with DHL, users need to log in to the DHL official website, find the “Create Waybill” page in their account, and accurately fill in the key information such as sender information, recipient information, and cargo details according to the system prompts. After submitting, the system will automatically generate an electronic waybill. Other courier companies, such as FedEx and UPS, have similar online application processes. Typically, you must first register as a user with the courier company and then apply for an electronic waybill in the relevant functional module.
Apply through a logistics management system: Some businesses or merchants use professional logistics management systems, which are often integrated with the systems of international courier companies. After users enter the cargo and delivery information in the logistics management system, the system will automatically send a request to the courier company’s system to generate an electronic waybill.
Apply through a freight forwarder: Submit your request directly to your freight forwarder, who can generally retrieve the electronic waybill.
Instructions
Fill in your order online: Whether using the courier’s official website or a third-party platform, you must complete the order page with detailed information about the sender, recipient, and cargo, including name, phone number, address, quantity, weight, dimensions, and value.
Generate and Print the Waybill: After completing the required information, the system will generate an electronic waybill based on your information. You can print the waybill directly within the system. When printing, be sure to select the appropriate printer and paper size to ensure the information is clear and complete. For example, UPS requires thermal paper with a label size of 210 x 127 mm (±2 mm tolerance).
Attach the Waybill: Affix the printed electronic waybill to a conspicuous location on the package, ensuring it lies flat, wrinkle-free, and not obscured by other parts of the package. Avoid applying the waybill along package seams to prevent it from falling off or becoming damaged during transport.
Tracking Logistics Information: After the electronic waybill is generated, it will be assigned a waybill number. Users can enter the waybill number on the courier’s official website or a third-party logistics tracking platform to track the shipment’s status and obtain real-time information on its location and progress.
