Can large cargo be sent internationally by air? International large cargo air freight refers to the international air transport of large cargo or equipment that exceeds standard size and weight limits.
Weight and size limits for international air freight vary depending on factors such as the airline, aircraft type, and specific route.
In this article, Weefreight will share some common restrictions.
Weight Limit: Generally, the weight of each piece of cargo on non-wide-body aircraft cannot exceed 80 kg, while the weight of each piece of cargo on wide-body aircraft cannot exceed 2,000 kg. However, specific regulations should be referred to the individual airlines. For example, ANA stipulates that individual pieces of luggage weighing more than 45 kg may not be checked in, and Jetstar stipulates that the weight of each oversized piece of luggage cannot exceed 32 kg.
Dimension Limit: Generally speaking, the volume of each piece of cargo carried on non-wide-body aircraft does not exceed 300 cm (length) × 80 cm (width) × 80 cm (height). Cargo carried on wide-body aircraft generally requires a maximum length of 310 cm (length) x 140 cm (width) x 158 cm (height). However, in some special cases, such as on international flights operated by Jetstar Airways’ Boeing 787, cargo length may be extended to 2.77 meters.
