Battery Type and Power: Generally, lithium batteries with a power rating of no more than 100 watt-hours are permitted. Lithium batteries exceeding 100 watt-hours but no more than 160 watt-hours require airline approval and are generally not recommended for mailing. Lithium batteries exceeding 160 watt-hours are strictly prohibited.
Packaging Requirements: Each battery must be individually insulated and securely packaged within the packaging. The battery’s voltage, capacity, and power rating must be clearly labeled on the product. Batteries must be packaged in a box-in-box format, with both the inner and outer boxes affixed with aviation-compliant battery labels. The inner box can hold a maximum of two batteries, and the inner box must be sealed. Shaking of the inner and outer boxes is prohibited. Each battery must weigh no more than 10 kg.
Document Requirements: The battery category, type, and wattage must be noted on the waybill, manifest, and invoice. A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) may also be required.
