The delivery times of DHL, FedEx, and UPS depend on a variety of factors, including the shipping route, cargo type, and service type.
In this article, Weefreight will share a comparison of their delivery times on different major routes, hoping it will be helpful.
China → Europe
DHL: European routes are DHL’s strength. Shipments from first-tier cities in China to core countries like the UK, Germany, and France typically arrive door-to-door within 2-4 business days. For example, shipments from Shanghai to Frankfurt can arrive in 2 business days if the cargo departs early and customs clearance goes smoothly.
FedEx: FedEx’s delivery times on European routes are slightly slower than DHL’s, with IP Priority service taking 3-5 business days and IE Economy service taking 4-7 business days.
UPS: UPS’s European delivery times are similar to FedEx’s, with Express service taking approximately 3-5 business days and Standard service taking 5-7 business days. However, UPS’s delivery time is more stable than DHL’s for larger shipments weighing over 20kg.
China → North America
DHL: DHL’s delivery time for standard shipments is 3-5 business days. If the destination is a core city on the east and west coasts of the United States, delivery is likely within 3 days. However, for more remote states in the central United States, a remote area fee will be added, which may delay delivery by 1-2 days.
FedEx: FedEx’s North American delivery routes offer both IP and IE services. IP priority service takes 4-6 business days, while IE economy service takes 5-7 business days. FedEx has a mature customs clearance team in the United States, resulting in less overall delivery time fluctuations.
UPS: UPS’s Express service takes 3-5 business days, similar to DHL and FedEx IP. Once shipments enter the United States, UPS’s domestic delivery network covers an extensive network. For example, UPS’s delivery to Anchorage, Alaska, can be approximately one day faster than DHL’s.
China → Southeast Asia
DHL: For general shipments to core countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, DHL only takes 1-3 business days, with some cities even offering next-day delivery.
FedEx: FedEx’s Southeast Asia delivery time is approximately 2-4 business days, which is generally average. For small packages under 2kg, the shipping process is more streamlined, narrowing the gap in delivery time with DHL.
UPS: UPS’s Southeast Asia Express service takes approximately 2-3 business days, slightly slower than DHL. However, in non-capital cities like Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Penang, Malaysia, UPS has a more dense local delivery network and offers better delivery stability than DHL.
