Are there any packaging requirements for international express delivery? Three types of packaging with high breakage rates should be avoided.

International express delivery has specific packaging requirements.

In this article, Weefreight will explain these in detail and hope it will be helpful.

International Express Packaging Requirements

Strongness and Integrity: Packaging materials must be able to withstand the pressure, stacking, vibration, and impact of transportation. The structure must be well-sealed to prevent leakage, scattering, or accidental opening. For example, for general cargo, brand new five-layer corrugated boxes can be used; avoid using damaged, damp, or deformed old boxes.

Adaptability and Maneuverability: The shape and size of the packaging should match the contents, avoiding excessive or insufficient space. Ease of handling and mechanical operation should also be considered, and the weight should be reasonable.

Compliance with Special Item Regulations: Different types of special items have different requirements. Sensitive items such as food, cosmetics, and chemicals generally have more stringent sealing, leak-proofing, contamination prevention, and labeling requirements. Items containing batteries must comply with the UN38.3 test standard and specific packaging instructions, and the packaging must be labeled accordingly.

Compliance Review: Upon receiving a package, the carrier will inspect the packaging for compliance. Noncompliant packaging will require the shipper to reinforce, modify, or replace it. Only when it meets the requirements can it be shipped.

Three Types of Packaging with High Damage Rates

Thin Cardboard Boxes: Thin cardboard boxes lack strength and cannot withstand the multiple transfers, loading and unloading, and stacking required during international shipping. They are prone to breakage, resulting in damage to the contents.

Woven Bags: Woven bags offer poor protection and cannot effectively protect items from impact, crushing, and other damage during transport. Furthermore, their poor sealing properties make it easy for items to leak or become scattered.

Used Cardboard Boxes: Used cardboard boxes may already be damaged or weakened. Furthermore, if used boxes are printed with other brand logos or hazardous materials labels, they may be considered “reused” by customs, increasing the risk of inspection and making them more susceptible to damage during transport.
